2020年4月4日，湖北省武汉市江汉一桥，武汉市公安局硚口区交通大队交警和市民停车鸣笛默哀。为表达全国各族人民对在抗击新冠肺炎疫情斗争中牺牲的烈士和逝世同胞的深切哀悼，国务院发布公告，决定于2020年4月4日举行全国性哀悼活动。

Traffic police officers and local residents stop their cars and blow horns to mourn those who dedicated their lives for the fight against the novel coronavirus and those who were killed by the virus at Jianghan Bridge in Wuhan, Hubei Province, on April 4, 2020. It was a national mourning day for the public emergency event caused by the virus.

2020年4月4日，北京天安门广场降半旗，对在抗击新冠肺炎疫情斗争中牺牲的烈士和逝世同胞表达深切哀悼。这是中国首次因重大突发公共卫生事件启动全国性哀悼活动。
